Haberman Anecdotes

  • 1950 - Haberman and a business partner created Vision, a prototype for a weekly television magazine that was to be the first devoted to television news and programming schedules.  The idea was perhaps ahead of its time; in April 1953, the first issue of TV Guide hit newsstands witih an almost identical format.
  • 1951 - Haberman was the official wedding photographer for Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner
  • 1956 (circa) - Haberman was invited onstage by his friend Ed Sullivan to lead a sing-song with the audience
  • 1959 - Haberman first tells the story of the night he "slept" with Marilyn Monroe... well, actually next to her on a cross-country flight following Nikita Khrushchev from New York to Los Angeles
  • 1960 - Haberman was on the set fo the first televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon
